Abigail Keizer, BCBA

Meet abigail…

Abigail didn’t originally plan on a career in applied behavior analysis. She entered Kalamazoo College with her sights set on becoming a genetic counselor, but one fascinating Developmental Psychology course taught by the incredible Dr. Siu-Lan Tan changed the course of her career. Soon, she was taking every psychology course that caught her interest, from human development and adolescent psychology to therapeutic psychology and the psychology of music. Through Kalamazoo College, she discovered an internship at Daily Behavioral Health, where she was first introduced to ABA while supporting children with autism at a day camp focused on building social connections, practicing daily living skills, and developing greater independence. She was fascinated by the science and its potential to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, and she never looked back.

The following summer, Abigail returned to the camp to help lead the program and train new behavior technicians. It was during this experience that she discovered she loved training others in ABA just as much as she loved working directly with the children and putting behavioral principles into practice. Over her 14 years in the field, that passion for training and mentorship has grown alongside her career. She earned her Master of Education in Special Education, with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis, from Penn State University, and progressed through roles at Daily Behavioral Health, Kaufman Children’s Center, and Acorn Health, eventually becoming a BCBA and Clinical Director. In each role, she actively sought opportunities to train and mentor others, finding some of her greatest professional fulfillment in helping clinicians strengthen their skills, deepen their understanding of ABA, and grow in confidence.

Abigail approaches supervision as a collaborative learning experience built on trust, curiosity, and meaningful feedback. Drawing on her clinical leadership experience and additional training in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), she incorporates Behavior Skills Training (BST), practical application, and individualized guidance to help trainees strengthen their clinical reasoning and decision-making. She wants trainees to feel comfortable asking questions, bringing difficult situations to supervision, and being honest about where they need support. She especially enjoys those “aha!” moments when something clicks and a trainee can put what they’ve learned into practice. Her goal is to help develop thoughtful, compassionate, and independent BCBAs who feel confident in their decisions, prepared to handle challenges, and excited about what’s ahead.

Abigail’s curiosity doesn’t stop with behavior analysis. She’s an avid photographer who loves the challenge of getting just the right shot, whether she’s photographing the tiniest details in nature or trying her hand at astrophotography. She loves exploring Michigan’s trails, and on a clear night, you’ll likely find her outside stargazing. At home, she and her husband love listening to records, with a collection that spans everything from Claude Debussy and Chet Baker to Ozzy Osbourne, Aretha Franklin, Journey, and Harry Styles. She also enjoys baking and cuddling with her cat while watching a favorite TV show. She’s also a devoted Radiolab listener, much to the amusement of her friends and family, who have grown accustomed to hearing, “There’s this one Radiolab episode…” before she launches into her latest fascinating discovery.

Abigail brings that same curiosity, enthusiasm, and love of learning to supervision, where she hopes to inspire future behavior analysts to approach challenges with curiosity, confidence, and excitement for what’s ahead.
